Since 2015, Paul has created the artwork for the air quality campaign across the Kansas City region. This campaign focuses on reducing air pollution and improving public health. The campaign encourages citizens to carpool, take the bus, bike or walk. Metro residents can see the billboards during the summer months.
As part of the regional air quality campaign, Paul created animated GIFs to highlight alternative modes of transportation. Staff at the Mid-America Regional Council work with local and national media companies to display artwork and animated GIFs on websites throughout the Kansas City region.
In addition to billboards and animated GIFs, the air quality campaigns included print advertisements in local newspapers and regional magazines. At the end of each ozone season, MARC staff conduct a survey to better understand the effectiveness of the previous year’s campaign. After reviewing this research, Paul is able to develop artwork and messaging based on the values and concerns of metro residents.
